"I’ve rented three times from AirBnb hosts this year, in Berlin, New York, and most recently in Coimbra. I need no assistance in functioning easily in any of the three cities, but Cecilia and Ricardo went out of their way for me and for this I am extremely grateful. I arrived at 5.20 am on a Sunday morning and knowing my way around Coimbra I was fully prepared to have coffee and something to eat at the local bus terminal café until a reasonable hour. My hosts wouldn’t have it and came to pick me up at 6 am and take me ‘home’. I left the following Saturday on a late afternoon train and they graciously allowed me to leave when I needed and just leave the key in the mailbox. I usually teach a week or two each year at the university and need to prepare my classes. The apartment is in a quiet section of town, with numerous cafes and restaurants and good bus connections to the university It is equipped with wi-fi, a big desk as well as a large dining room table, which facilitates working. There is also plenty of light, which isn’t always the case in hotel rooms, which often also lack space. The kitchen comes equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, refrigerator-freezer, range, microwave and coffeemaker. It’s great to know they’re all there (especially for a longer stay!), but they were lost on me since why cook when eating and drinking in Portugal is fantastic. The separate bedroom and bath left nothing to be desired. I strongly recommend staying with Cecilia and Ricardo for anyone just visiting Coimbra and the surrounding area, and particularly for those working at the university on a visiting basis. This was clearly the best AirBnb stay I’ve had!"

"This is a very nice, modern and well equipped flat. Clean and comfortable. "Design apartment" is a good description. Good wifi and other conveniences such as a washing machine, TV, and a very good standard of furnishings and kitchen equipment. Not in the heart of Coimbra but close enough to walk to a square, and on a bus route to the centre. Good takeaway underneath if in need. Cecilia was very welcoming and informative and particularly kind when I had to cut short my stay unexpectedly. I appreciated her warmth."

The apartment is gorgeous, well equipped, modern and very home-like to stay in. It would also be very comfortable for a longer stay. The location is great, just a nice short walk across the bridge to the heart of the tourist area. The views of the University and old Town are best from this side of the river. And parking for a car is available! We would highly recommend these hosts and their beautiful apartment."

"Cecilia and Ricardo met us at the apartment to make certain all our questions were answered and all our needs met. They had excellent suggestions for activities and restaurants in Coimbra. They drove to a wonderful restaurant called Praxis with us following. They kindly spoke to the owner so that my husband could watch his much loved Formula One while eating delicious food. He says, it can't get any better than this. The apartment is exactly as shown in the photos. All new and modern and spotlessly clean. Ideally located with just a ten minute walk across the bridge to the old town. Our only regret was that we didn't have longer to stay. We would definitely stay there again and would happily recommend it to others."

"お勧めします。 市街地へは徒歩15分程度、コインブラの旧市街全体が見えます。Ceciliaさんには、事前にコインブラアクセスのバスの情報を頂きました。 また、滞在中は食洗機、洗濯機、マッサージバスの使い方を教わり、快適に過ごすことができました。（マッサージバスは使った人は少なそうでした。）部屋は広くきれいで快適です。広さや快適さは今回ポルトガルで宿泊したホテルよりも良かったです。（しかもそれらより滞在費は安かったです。）写真のとおりリビングダイニング、キッチン、セパレートバス（タオル等も装備）、寝室が揃ってます。ちなみに、コインブラでキッチンとバスタブを揃える宿泊施設はあまり無さそうです。 キッチン・バスタブ付きの宿を探していたところAirbnbを見つけ、初めて使用しましたが最初のホストが彼女たちで良かったです。初めての日本人ゲストになれたのもラッキーでした。 部屋は薬局などの入っている建物の２階でした。ゴミ集積所は目の前で便利です。"

"The appartment was really well equiped and decorated. Even though it's not in the city center the walk to get there is pleasant (especially around sunset) and the chicken restaurant nearby is really good (and cheap as well). Cecilia was really hepful and full of good advice. The only inconvienience is the road along the building, it's quite noisy during the day but fortunatly calm at night. Coimbra is a nice city, don't miss out the delicious portuguese pastries."

"Cet appartement est grand, moderne, propre et très bien équipé. Il est à proximité du centre ville, du centre commercial et des axes routiers permettant de sortir facilement de la ville. Cécilia a été une hôte très agréable, professionnelle, s'assurant que nous ne manquions de rien pendant notre séjour de deux semaines. Seul Bémol au niveau de l'appartement, assez bruyant !!! Avenue très fréquentée au pied de l'immeuble (bcp de circulation en tout genre, camion, moto...). Dommage... Sinon parfait..."

"Nice apartment, clean, big enough for 2 and not to far from everything. It's on the other side of the river but can be easily walked to it in 20 minutes max. Ricardo was very kind and helpful when we came in. He indicated a nice place, Praxis, where they brew their own beer; you need to go. We recommend this apartment."

"Cecilia was our contact prior to arrival and provided a friendly and welcoming introduction to Coimbra and responded to our questions very promptly and in a helpful manner. She was away for the weekend when we arrived and Ricardo stepped in as our host. He, too, was very helpful and friendly, and even spent his lunch hour driving us briefly around the area to point out the shops, bakery, how to walk into town, etc. He even dropped us at a local trendy new brewery for lunch. He also helped us book a taxi when we were departing. Full marks to both! The apartment itself is in a new complex with good security and, although some of the furnishings not to my personal taste, is very well appointed - 2 large and comfortable bedrooms, sleek modern kitchen with washing machine, a spacious dining and lounge room, and modern bathroom. (As an aside, we were also delighted that it was on the ground floor - we had been travelling in Europe for quite a few weeks and lugging our suitcases up endless flights of stairs was beginning to wear thin!). On the down side, it is in a bit of an isolated part of town, on the opposite side of the river from most central attractions. Although it will no doubt soon change as more developments and restorations occur, it is in a bit of an overgrown and rundown area at present. Although it didn't really bother us as we enjoy walking, it is a bit of a hot and sweaty (in summer at least) 25 minute walk into the centre of town. Having said that, just around the corner is the very best roasted piri-piri chicken shop in Coimbra (even our taxi driver pointed it out to us) and people come from all over to collect their delicious chicken dinners (or dine in). A couple of blocks further on towards the bakery and supermarket is a fabulous bar (called The Gallery, I think, sorry forgot to make a note of its name) - it has some great lounge areas, a downstairs bar, and a magnificent vine-covered terrace overlooking the Roman ruins and the famous Convent - great wines and snack style meals (with many of the ingredients coming from their own proudly grown gardens), and the best hot chocolate in the whole wide world! Don't miss it!"

"We loved this apartment. It is very clean and has plenty of space. We met Ricardo who was very helpful and spoke great English. Emailing with Cecilia was easy and she always responded quickly. When we arrived Ricardo dropped us off at the supermarket (about a 15 minute walk) to get some things we needed since the local market was closed. The apartment is in a modern building and has everything you need for an extended stay in Coimbra. It is a 10 minute walk across the river from the start of the old town of Coimbra. This is a benefit if you want an easy, flat walk into town. (Nice for us with a baby.) The center is full of steep hills, stairs, and cobblestone streets so it is a bit more work to get around. However, this location a drawback if you are looking to stay in the historic center and have restaurants and cafes within minutes. There is a take-away restaurant downstairs and some cafes about 5 minutes away. We would recommend this apartment and especially enjoyed interacting with our hosts."

"Ricardo and Cecilia were very kind and helpful with us. We travel in family (with children of 8 and 4 years old) and the apartment is located in fantastic place for children, very near to "Portugal dos Pequenitos" and in the green area of Mondego River. The place is a short walking distance to the city center. The apartment was very comfortable, with internet, traveling guides and very bright. There are restaurants in the neighborhood, small local shops, souvenirs and wine shops. We enjoy very much!"

"Comfortable apartment that was exactly as pictured. The kitchen was well stocked with essential utensils and equipment, nice shower, and the laundry machine was great after a couple weeks living out of a suitcase. It's located in an area with few restaurants or grocery stores nearby, but within close walking distance of the center as well as the train station and bus stops. Communication with the hosts was great, and they even allowed us store our bags in the apartment after checking out and provided a much appreciated ride to the train station."

"HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Everything and more than any traveler (or couple) could expect or desire in a home away from home. Very Clean, Comfortable, Spacious, No Shortage of Storage, Instant Hot Water, Excellent Location, (close to [easy walk] to the center and public transportation, not far [we walked] from a huge shopping mall with gigantic supermarket), and Adequately Equipped. Small minus: eating in the kitchen is a bit cramped. Cecilia was amazing, not only had patience when we got lost (as we always do approaching an unfamiliar city) driving into Coimbra, but even offered to come and find us and guide us to the flat. She repeatedly calmed me and reassured us not to worry, she was waiting to great us. When we finally did get to the location, Cecilia was waiting on the sidewalk, and we met one of the nicest, kindest persons who ever hosted us. We wish her continued success professionally and and as with Airbnb. CECILIA THANK YOU, and Ricardo AGAIN."

"SuperHosts"

Cecilia and Ricardo are very friendly hosts who are willing to serve all your needs. We rented their apartment initially for six weeks, but left due to personal circumstances earlier than expected. It is a nicely furnished apartment with anything you need. Good equipped kitchen. They also provided us with a children's bed and chair. They also bought a nice dining set for our little son. When we left earlier than expected they made special arrangements for a transfer to the airport in Lisbon. We recommend staying in one of their apartments. We liked the location and the walk to the old city centre. A well-stored supermarket is close by. When you don't like to walk; it is not expensive to take a taxi! Close to the apartments there are some nice restaurants along the riverside and a take-away chicken restaurant that has excellent grilled chicken.

"Excelente Apartmento"

Apartamento moderno, decoração moderna e muito bonita, bem equipado, é tal e qual como mostra nas fotos, a distância ao centro a pé faz-se bem e rápido, não posso deixar de referenciar a simpatia da senhora que nos recebeu, deu-nos logo indicações do que visitar em Coimbra e arredores, supermecados etc. O que menos gostei, foi que se ouvia um pouco os carros a passar mas nada demais. Aconselho a todos.

"Fabulous Holiday"

If you are looking for a gorgeous, well equipped, modern apartment and with excelente faclities in a quiet neighboorhood but still be able to access downtown within walking distance this is the right place to stay. We stayed in this spectacular apartment for 10 days and enjoyed the excelling quality and tasteful interiors, the relaxing walks in the riverbank (specially around sunset), the close pool and the proximity of the city center. Both Ricardo and Cecilia were very warm hosts and gave us excellent information for enjoying our stay in their delightful city of Coimbra. They even provided us with a car for better enjoying our stay. Close by there is bakery and a small supermarket. There is also a portuguese take away chicken restaurant next door that is absolutely delicious! We would highly recommend these hosts and their beautiful apartment.

"Modern and pleasnt apartment, close enough to the city"

My wife and I stayed here with friends, revisiting Coimbra having previously been living in the countryside nearby so wanted something on the outskirts. Very modern and well designed apartment, more spacious than we thought it might be, two good sized bedrooms and nicely decorated. A minor issue with the air con was quickly sorted out, and a gift of cheese and wine appreciated from Ricardo.

“Lovely apartment”

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay here in the very attractive and charming city of Coimbra located on the river Mondego. The flat itself is very modern and clean and we were very comfortable staying there. The host kindly picked us up from the station and drove us to the apartment and gave us some useful information about the area. If you are going without a car it is a 15-20 minute walk to the city centre but it is a very pleasant walk over the pedestrian bridge. If you are wanting to go to a supermarket though you will either need to take a taxi (approx. 6 euros) or get a bus.

“Excellent”

My family and I stayed in this flat and we strongly recommend it. The hosts were very helpful and welcoming. The flat was very clean and the beds are very good. As for the location, it is good especially if you are driving. Anyway in good weather we may walk to nice places by the river Mondego and straight to the downtown and uptown areas. 
If we go to Coimbra both on holiday or to work, we won't hesitate to book with the owner.
The wifi wasn't working properly and the only TV channels available are the basic Portuguese channels and these were the only downside of the stay.

“Perfect location for visiting centre of Coimbra” 

"Cecilia was very prompt in answering our questions by e-mail. She also was more than helpful at the end of our stay when we told her about the problem we had with our rental car. She called Avis and accompanied us to the agency in Coimbra!

The apartment was as described on internet. I was a bit worried about the traffic in the street, but it was not too busy during the night and we slept well. The apartment is not situated at the front, but at the side of the building and that helps too.The kitchen is well equipped and has a large fridge and freezer. There is a nice coffee machine with 10 cups to start with. We once bought a meal (bacalhau) with a dessert (less than 10 euro!) in a shop below the apartment and this was perfect with a salad of our own. Shops are not far away. Very large shopping centre at 2 km, bakery 5 min walk, medium supermarket next to railway station (15 min walk).

Walking to the centre is easy. To the university it is uphill, steep, but manageable. We liked the fado performance (every day at 18.00 hrs). And not to forget the University with the library.We had a very relaxed time in this apartment in Coimbra!"
